Default Does this game exist? Not a flame or troll, I promise :)

Before I start, let me say that I WANT it to exist. I want a new socially focused co-op PvE mmorpg to get my teeth into.

But is this game just a showcase for Trion's technology? Is that the real money earner and focus for them?

Is it taking a seat much further back to their Scy-Fy project?

Is it even actively being worked on right now? All I have seen so far is a few technical demos and some concept art.

The lack of activity or dev communication makes me worried, so I guess I am just asking what you more clued up folks think before I invest time into a community.

I know that you all post here, so you must have some belief in it all, but what are your honest truthful gut feelings?

You and I the same. Only thing Trion has spoken of in the last 7 months is of how great their connection with the SyFy channel is. And to be all honest, you read the forums out there and everyone is bashing the living non-sense out of the SyFy deal as it sounds like a dead end (and I agree).

HoT is claimed to be their out the door product but as of recent, one would think otherwise.

What I fear is, Trion is already playing catch-up ball before even taking the field...

Or worse, Trion pulls a Vangaurd; Last minute thrown together crap with no beta to back it up and then it belly flops to its death.

Makes it hard to check back in here every day...

Yeah, agree... I love Vanguard in so many ways but it was destroyed by astonishingly bad management and a utter lack of support since.

It could have been so easily been a great game though. Still could be if the right people bought if off SOE and spent some money on final polish (it has come a long long way from launch but still has issues), an expansion (new quest/ itemisation content, new character models, not landmass), and a rebrand/ advertisment push with a trial for newbs and a new month of free play for everyone who has already bought a box.

I would start playing it tommorrow tbh if SOE wasnt running it on a tiny skeleton dev crew with no future.

We don't know. Trion is not breathing a word about this game at the moment. There is always room for speculation, but nothing is certain.

I agree with all the statements above. I believe the advertisement with Syfy is for money and raitings. Also many mmos with fantasy themes are starting to be lack luster. Face it so far the only two that are doing any real development are Warcraft and Lord of the Rings.

Aion has Science Fiction features so to me not really a Fantasy MMO more like Angels vs Demons thing ...

Trion might be trying to move into the New but old area of First Person Shooters (been around since Doom and Wolfenstien), but now putting a MMO polish to it (Unreal Tournement or Counterstrike anyone?).

The advantage is that there are three different development studios for Trion each location is doing a different MMO ... so we shall see what happens. Bottom line it would not surprise me if the SYFY MMO was released first as there is more money involved and probably a harder deadline.

Look at Heroes Quest, the user interface is being used to make Knights of the Old Republic, so they are not making a MMO but doing product support for Bioware (I think they are publishing Kotor online).

Here's the thing, as MMO players, not many care about the deal with SyFy, they just want a solid game. The whole SyFy thing, tbh, will blow over as keeping up the game will be more important that those viewing it on television.

What I wish is that Trion focus 100% resources on getting HoT out the door before worrying about these other ventures. Again, we do NOT need another SOE splitting up resources all over the place. We need more Blizzards who knows how to manage and put out games that have longetivity and good support.

I for one am just in sleeper mode. I'll continue to hope that they'll pull an amazing game out of nowhere and surprise us all, but I'm not holding my breath. Not anymore.

I'm in the same boat as you mate. I'm waiting and hoping Trion will deliver the goods, but they'll need to pull out some amazing stuff to get me excited again about HoT.

This is EXACTLY why I call BS on Trion claiming they read these boards. If I was any form of an employee of a brand new business creating a new product and I see that the small community of sub 100 individuals are already showing displeasure, there would need to be a change in action.

You can't tell me they come by these boards and say "They can wait".

If this happens now, then by god what happens if the game ever see daylight.
